In recent years, Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions has become the unifying call of pro-Palestinian activists across the world.  The strength of the movement is that it allows supporters of Palestine to participate in actions that can be both locally focused and help put real pressure on Israel and the Western governments who support it.

Yet the campaign is new to Australia, and there are questions about what it actually means, why it is necessary, and so on.  To explain all of this, we are extremely lucky to have Samah Sabawi, speak to us in this special forum.  Samah is a Palestinian, a former Executive Director for the National Council on Canada-Arab Relations, and is the newly appointed human rights advocate for Australians for Palestine.  Samah will explain how BDS can help us provide real support to the Palestinian struggle for justice, from right here in Australia!

The event will also be a fundraiser for a hospital in Gaza.  Anyone who has experience in baking cakes or other fundraising ideas should contact:

    Mohamud Hersi (0423 797 268) or Omar Hassan (0421 185 037).

The Forum will be held at Monash University, Clayton Campus
Building and room number to be advised

This event is being co-hosted by Students for Palestine and the Monash University Islamic Society.

As part of Israeli Apartheid Week, join us in actively boycotting the Israeli cosmetic company - JERICHO - which is profiting from Israel's apartheid and occupation polices.  Jericho exploits minerals from the Dead Sea and profits from them.  The indigenous Palestinians who live there are regularly denied access to the Dead Sea by Israel's military occupation, which includes networks of checkpoints, Israeli-only roads and the Apartheid Wall .

MEET AT THE STATE LIBRARY OF VICTORIA
Cnr La Trobe and Swanston Streets, City
